TRAFFIC officers who chased a car which was allegedly driven dangerously on the motorway forced the vehicle to stop and arrested the driver.
Following reports of a silver Vauxhall Vectra being driven dangerously down the A1(M) from Morpeth and into the Durham area, on Saturday, officers from Northumbria Police and Cleveland and Durham road policing units pursued the vehicle.
The driver failed to stop and officers had to box in the vehicle to bring it to a halt. The driver was subsequently arrrested for numberous offences and the car seized.
Police are now appealing for witnesses who saw the manner in which the car was driven and anyone who has dashcam footage which could help their investigation to contact Durham Constabulary on 101, asking for PC 2960 Simpson.
