TRIBUTES have been paid to former Bridgewater High School teacher Allan Wilde.

The well-known teacher appeared in the obituaries column of this week's Warrington Guardian after he passed away aged 80.

Mr Wilde, who lived in Orford until he married wife Freda in 1964 and moved to Thelwall, was head of languages at Stockton Heath County Secondary School before it became known as Bridgewater.

He taught at the school until retirement.

The French teacher and former Boteler Grammar pupil's passion was music and he was an accomplished pianist and classical guitarist.

He also played mandolin and ukulele and was a member of All Saint’s Choir for more than 40 years and a member of The Bridgewater Singers for the last 20 years.

During his retirement he loved holidays in Austria, Switzerland and Italy, he also enjoyed holidays in Llandudno and climbed Snowdon each year until recently.

He loved going for walks locally, attending art classes, computer studies classes and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

A funeral service was held at All Saints Church, Thelwall, prior to interment at All Saints Churchyard on July 3 after his sad death on June 19.
