OFFICERS have charged a man with murder after a body was found in Blyth. 

At about 1.55am on Monday police received a report that a man had been assaulted inside an address on Hallside Road in Blyth.

Upon attending, emergency services discovered the man, who was later identified as Scott Patterson, had sustained injuries consistent with a stabbing. He later died as a result of those injuries.

A murder investigation was launched and on Monday night, a total of seven addresses in the Blyth area were searched and four arrests were made.

Officers have now charged Peter Dodds, 34, of The Greenway, Uxbridge with the murder of Scott Patterson. He is due to appear at North Tyneside Magistrates’ today.

One woman aged 48, and two men, aged 50 and 56 were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and were released without charge.
