A MAN has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a minibus on the A690 near Houghton-le-Spring.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for information after a collision on the A690 Durham Road on Tuesday.

"At about 8.35am officers attended the scene where a vehicle had collided with man.

"Ambulance service attended the scene where the pedestrian was taken to hospital. He is described as being in a life threatening condition.

"The road has now fully reopened and police are appealing for information."
