A VAST array of performances took place at Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF) from a multi-coloured car performance to a fantastic festival finale.

The festival started on Thursday with a performance on Stockton High Street.

A trail of white cars were showcased before being covered in colour by the creation of a giant sized rainbow cloud.

This marked the start of the festival, now running in its 32nd year.

The festival incorporates a variety of arts performances which include dance, circus and music.

Acts included a Les Misérables inspired performance, and an interactive circus theatre experience.

The closing act on Sunday August 4 was an astonishing aerial performance on Stockton high street.

Theater Tol perform 'Hotel Watercage' for the finale

Crowds gathered to witness the show where a variety of acrobatics were carried out, which were accompanied by a breath-taking firework display.

The finale was a captivating UK Premiere of Hotel Watercage by Theatre Tol, an international musical theatre company.

The remarkable show portrayed the characters as isolated by the world around them, before they team up to find the key to happiness.

Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Councils Cabinet member for Health, Leisure and Culture said: “The finale was emotionally evocative and a real spectacle for the many who gathered to experience it.

“Thank you to all of the performers who have provided such wonderful entertainment, and a special thanks to the army of volunteers and our dedicated council staff who made the festival happen.”
