PERSONNEL of 4th Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment, have marked Yorkshire Day by raising more than £200 for a trust to support veterans.

4 YORKS cycled 251 miles on static bikes, raising money for The Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Trust on August 1 – Yorkshire Day – located outside of York Army Museum on Tower Street, York. The team created a Yorkshire Regiment stand filled with purchasable cakes and collection tub. Members of the public kindly donated as they passed by the military museum.

Captain Lance Morris, Adjutant of the 4th Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment, who organised the event, said: "4th Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment promoted the Regiment on Yorkshire Day 2019 through fostering the county’s love for cycling in the heart of York. Our hard-working Yorkshire Warriors cycled throughout the day, stopping for essential cake breaks. All funds raised from the day will go to The Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Trust to support serving members and veterans of the Regiment in a time of need."

Major Pat Ralph, Chairman of The Yorkshire Regiment Association, added: "The funds from The Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Trust primarily goes to veterans in need."

The team raised a total of £216.15 and beat their original target of 200 miles.

Elsewhere, the Welcome to Yorkshire team gave out 365 white roses to celebrate Yorkshire Day at Kings Cross Station, London. Some of the county’s finest produce was also on display in the capital at a pop-up Yorkshire market, from Slingsby and Black Sheep Brewery.
