THIRSK Racecourse will host its first major live music event next month when four-time Brit nominated band Scouting For Girls performs.

The triple platinum selling band will be on stage after racing on Friday, August 16.

Racecourse Manager, James Sanderson, said: “We’re very excited to be bringing such a high profile and successful music act to Thirsk.

"The combined racing and music concept is a fabulous, proven innovation that not only provides added entertainment for racegoers, but also attracts new faces to the town and the racecourse – which is great.

“We’re running the evening’s racing on very relaxed lines. There will be no dress-code and no designated enclosures, and so everyone will be able to access all of the Racecourse’s bars and other public facilities.

The Northern Echo:

“Obviously we’re hoping for a bumper crowd and so in addition to our normal offering, we’ll be gearing up with a delicious selection of street food, plus additional bars and loos in close proximity to the stage.”

Gates open at 3pm and the first race is timed for 4.55pm.

The last race is timed for 8.05pm, after which there will be a DJ set, and Scouting For Girls can be expected on stage at about 8.30pm.

Admissions to the site will close at 8pm – so anyone planning to attend must be inside the Racecourse before the last race.

Advanced tickets are currently on sale at the discounted rate of £30 for adults, but that price is set to increase soon. Teenager tickets, for those aged 13-17, are £20 and children aged 12 and under will be admitted free of charge. All U18s must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event.
