A MAN accused of sexually abusing two children said the pair fabricated the allegations after they were “poisoned” against him.

Kevin Robson, 55, from Newton Aycliffe, allegedly inappropriately touched one of the complainants and forced the pair into indecent activity while they were children.

The 55-year-old has denied abusing the infants over a several year period and said he had “no idea” why they would make up the allegations.

Teesside Crown Court previously heard Robson kissed one complainant, forced them into indecent activity and told them to throw away clothing to remove evidence of his abuse.

During cross examination the former delivery driver denied bombarding the complainants with text messages after they lost contact.

He also denied ringing one of the alleged victims on their 13th birthday and said the children were in fact the ones who rang him on a weekly basis.

Robson said: “I didn’t even know they had mobile phones, I didn’t phone them. I never had any mobile numbers for both of them.”

Martin Towers, defending, asked: “The jury have heard evidence that you told one of the complainants to squeeze your testicles as hard as they could. Is that the sort of thing that would turn you on?"

Robson responded: “No, definitely not. I don’t know any man who would enjoy that, certainly not me.”

He added that it was “not nice” to have such allegations hanging over him and he has “no idea” why the pair would fabricate the abuse.

He said: “I don’t know why they have fallen out with me. I thought they had been poisoned towards me. It never happened.”

Robson, of Merlin Court, Newton Aycliffe, denied seven counts of inciting a child under the age of 14 to commit an act of indecency and one count of indecent assault to a child under the age of 14.

The trial continues.
