THE air ambulance was called to the scene of a crash between a car and motorcycle on Monday.
A section of Cass House Road in Hemlington, near Middlesbrough, had to be closed in both directions following the crash at around 12.38pm.
Police said a Yamaha 350 motorcycle and a blue Peugeot were both involved.
The rider of the motorbike was later taken to hospital, following asessment and treatment from the air ambulance service.
At the scene, the motorcycle could be seen lying in the road at the junction with Viewley Centre Road, near Viewley Hill Shopping Centre.
A spokeswoman for the Great North Air Ambulance later confirmed paramedics and a doctor assessed and treated the rider, before being taken to hospital by road ambulance.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said the road closure had been extended to the roundabout off the junction from Viewley Hill Avenue.
- The road reopened at around 2.30pm.
