POLICE are making inquiries following reports of a child being forced into a white van.
There is a heavy police presence in Felling, in Gateshead tonight after reports were made that a child was forced into a van in Coldwell Street.
The report was made at about 8.15pm.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Police are carrying out enquiries after reports of a suspicious incident in Gateshead.
"At about 8.15pm police received a report of a girl being forced into a white van in Coldwell Street, Felling.
"Officers are carrying out lines of enquiries and are appealing to anyone who may have any information about the incident to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1091 200719."
Police have said no child has been reported as missing.
