MORE than 2,000 children enjoyed a mass fun run around the grounds of Preston Park in Stockton.
Pupils from 22 primary schools took part in the one mile run.
It was held for fun, with the hope of inspiring children to get active and healthy.
The focus of the race was on enjoyment and there was no competition to see who came first.
Participants could run, jog or walk the race on their own, with their friends or teachers.
Tom Bosworth, Commonwealth silver medalist and Olympic finalist was there to give words of advice and inspire the children before they set off.
He said: “The kids are so excited to get out of the classroom, I didn’t see one kid that was not looking forward to taking part in the race.
“It is important in todays society that we are not self conscious about exercising."
A teacher from Durham Lane school said: “they are really excited to take part in the race, and the pupils have enjoyed meeting other schools.”
A Frederick Nattrass Primary Academy teacher added “The race was great experience for our children and its good that its about taking part without serious competition.”
