TWO boats that suffered mechanical failure while near the North-East coast were rescued by the RNLI on Saturday (July 13).
At 1.55pm, Hartlepool RNLI volunteers were called by the Humber Coastguard to reports of a failed boat, which was carrying three people, sailing close to the piers of Hartlepool Marina.
An all-weather lifeboat was then dispatched at 2.10pm, before the 28ft boat was towed to a pontoon at Hartlepool Marina.
A second call out for Hartlepool RNLI was reported at 4pm, when volunteers on an in-shore lifeboat were asked to take over an ongoing tow from a Redcar RNLI lifeboat.
The fishing boat, carrying six people at the time, had also suffered mechanical failure while off the coast of Redcar, and was later towed to Hartlepool.
