A MAJOR road flooded after thunderstorms hit the region on Thursday.
Two fire engines attended the scene of the flooding on Durham Road, in Sunderland, to help pump away the water.

The area was cordoned off by firefighters who closed the road.
Residents can no longer get in or out of their homes.
Witness Hannah Pearson said: "I've never seen it as bad as this.
"The road flooded in the space of 15 minutes, it was really heavy.
"It hasn't went up to their doors but gardens are flooded.
“The rains stopped now but before it was bad and there was thunder and lightning.
The Bridges Shopping Centre, in Sunderland, also flooded due to heavy rain.
