A DOCTOR is facing a tribunal over allegations he inappropriately touched patients for his own sexual gratification while carrying out lymph node examinations.
Dr Magdy Boutros Fahmy Eskander is accused of carrying out the examinations on three patients between January 6, 2011 and July 16, 2012. He is currently facing a medical practitioners tribunal in Manchester, which is scheduled to end on July 30. It is understood that Eskander specialised in trauma and orthopaedic surgery from May 13, 1996 and worked throughout County Durham and Darlington.
Pre-hearing information, released by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS), states: “The tribunal will inquire into the allegation that on five separate occasions, Mr Eskander failed to adequately communicate with three patients prior to conducting an examination of their lymph nodes, in that he did not explain what the examination involved. Further, it is alleged that Mr Eskander examined these patients and acted in a way to avoid his actions being observed. It is alleged that Mr Eskander’s actions were sexually motivated.” The allegations state that he touched the genitals of all three female patients and covered them with a sheet to avoid his actions being seen.
According to the list of registered medical practitioners, Eskander is currently not licensed to practise and must adhere to certain conditions as the hearing proceeds.
