Air ambulance on scene near Penshaw yesterday
A CYCLIST was airlifted to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest whilst out riding.
The man became seriously unwell while cycling at Penshaw, near Sunderland, on Wednesday afternoon and emergency services were called.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service sent a helicopter with a doctor and paramedic onboard to assist the North East Ambulance Service crew who treated the man at the scene before flying him to Newcastle's Freeman Hospital.
His condition is not known.
