A MAN with an axe has been arrested after he stole a till from a convenience store.
At around 8am on Wednesday, the 42-year-old, who was in posession of an axe entered the branch of McColls on Darlington Lane in Stockton.
The man then made off with the till, before armed police officers 'flooded' the area and arrested the man nearby.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "The man has been taken into police custody and enquiries are ongoing.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Stockton CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 116332."
