A BURGLARY victim has written to the police to thank them for helping putting the man responsible behind bars.
Cleveland Police investigated the burglary on Laburnum Road, Redcar, on May 5 and as a result a 44-year-old local man was arrested and charged.
He was imprisoned for almost two and half years.
Now, the victim has praised the team leading the investigation in a letter, saying: “I am writing to thank the officers who responded to this incident.
“Despite my distress, the call receiver was calm, efficient and helpful.
“As a result of quick action, the arresting officers arrived promptly and caught the perpetrator.
“The lady officer dealt with me in a most reassuring manner, allowing me enough peace of mind to have some sleep that night.
“The response officer taking my statement was both considerate and diligent.
“The Crime Scene Officer arrived promptly the next morning and worked carefully although there was little or no trace to be found.
“The detectives involved were well informed and took care to explain the process as it evolved.
“DC Catherine McKenzie was particularly careful in ascertaining the information which she required to progress the prosecution and in keeping me informed; displaying a perfect manner and excellent communication skills throughout.
“I can see that the reasons for a successful prosecution are attributable to the diligence of the personnel involved and I commend their work.”
