SUPPORTERS of a People’s Vote to resolve the Brexit issue had their voice heard in the North-East today.
A rally at Sunderland’s Beacon of Light heard demands that no form of Brexit, particularly a “destructive” No Deal, is imposed on the region, without people having the final say.
Speakers included Houghton and Sunderland South MP Bridget Phillipson and Tottenham MP David Lammy.
Ms Phillipson said: “The kind of crash that Jeremy Hunt and Boris Johnson accept as a price worth paying for Brexit is one where working people in the North-East pick up the bill.
“We say to them: ‘You have no majority in Parliament for no deal. You have no mandate in the country for no deal. And we will not stand by and let a tiny minority impose it on us’.”
