Road blocked after serious crash
A MAIN route near Whitby has been closed following a serious crash involving a motorbike and a van.
The crash happened earlier this morning, at about 7.20am, close to Sainsbury's, near Hawsker village, and the road is blocked.
Police have sealed off the A171 - the main route from Whitby to Scarborough - between the Robin Hood's Bay junction on the Whitby side, and Stainsacre, to allow emergency services to attend the scene.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
