BORIS Johnson and Jeremy Hunt will be in the North-East today as part of the Conservative Party leadership race to become the next Prime Minister.

The pair will host an audience of Conservative Party members in Darlington on Friday, discussing their plans for the region and their political priorities, as well as answering questions from the floor.

The hustings are the eighth event in a series of sessions being held across the UK with Mr Johnson and Mr Hunt speaking to members in York on Thursday night for the Conservative Leadership Election 2019.

Theresa May's successor to become the next Prime Minister will be announced in less than four weeks. Postal ballots will be sent out to around 160,000 Conservative Party members between July 6 and July 8.
