HUNDREDS of people turned out today to get messy in a colourful challenge in aid of a North-East hospice.

Around 250 people took part in the Butterwick Rainbow Dash at Hardwick Park, near Sedgefield.

The aim was to complete an obstacle course while getting covered in biologically-safe powdered paint.

Organiser Milly Toner said: “Hardwick Park is a new venue this year and they have been fantastic. Everyone has had a good time while raising money for a great cause.”

Hannah Lamb, from North Cowton, who was taking part with her family, said: “It’s been a lot of fun and excellent for the children. Our youngest is seven and there’s been plenty to keep the younger ones occupied.”

Around 30 volunteers supported the event, including representatives from Darlington Building Society, Durham Business Club and Switch Aid.
