A TEENAGER has appeared in court charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

Father and daughter Michael Liddell, 68, and mother-of-two Sarah Liddell, 41, died after being involved in a two-car crash on Thursday, June 13.

Ms Liddell was driving a black Hyundai i30 with her father as a passenger on Thursday lunchtime when the pair were involved in the crash with a blue BMW 330i driven by an 18-year-old man.

Emergency services were called to the incident involving the two vehicles on the roundabout junction with Middlesbrough Road and the A171 at Guisborough, near to the Co-Op petrol station.

Mr Liddell, from Moorsholm, east Cleveland, was pronounced dead at the scene. His daughter, from Marske, sustained serious injuries in the crash and died on Friday morning at the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.

The 18-year-old BMW driver originally from Bulgaria and living in the Whitby area, was arrested on Friday and appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court, in Middlesbrough, on Saturday, June 15, for a short hearing.

No plea was entered and he was remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance at Teesside Crown Court on Monday, July 15.
