A MAN reported missing from home was found suffering from hypothermia in woodland.

John Vaughan, 63, from Kimblesworth, near Chester-le-Street, was found by rescue crews between Pity Me and Plawsworth near the A167.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham.

Durham Constabulary called out Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue as part of the just before 2pm on Thursday as part of the search. He was found in under an hour.

Team search manager John Little said: “In total nine team members attended and one mountain rescue search dog and handler.

“The team and search dog had been searching for less than an hour when the Search Dog indicated to it’s handler the presence of a person.

“The male was found close to a major road in woodland and dense undergrowth.

“He was treated for hypothermia by medics and carried to the ambulance.”
