TWO further people have been arrested after a twelve-year-old girl was hit by a motorcyclist which fled the scene.

On Wednesday (June 12), a twelve-year-old girl suffered serious head injuries after she was hit by a motorbike on Low Poppleton Lane in York.

The incident happened at around 5pm, and the girl had to be rushed to Leeds General Infirmary. 

In the evening, a 29-year-old man from York was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop, but was later released on conditional bail. 

On Friday, police investigating said two more, a 30-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman from York, had been arrested under suspicion of assisting an offender. 

Police said both had since been released under further investigation. 

The motorcycle and suspect's clothing have since been recovered.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "Whilst unable to respond to everyone, officers would like to thank those members of public who have provided information so far which has generated a number of significant leads.

"Anyone who has any information that can assist the investigation, including any dash-cam or CCTV footage of the incident, or of the motorcycle, a grey coloured Kawasaki Ninja 600cc, prior to or after the collision is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police."
