A 44-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with murder in connection with an incident where a man died after sustaining "serious injuries".
Michael Phillips, 39, died on Monday, June 10, following the incident at a property in Rydal Street, Hartlepool.
Nine people have been arrested by Cleveland Police, with a spokeswoman for the force confirming on Thursday evening that one man has been charged with murder.
The 44-year-old has also been charged with burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, and also charged with actual bodily harm.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 14.
Eight of those questioned in connection with Mr Phillips' death were arrested on suspicion of murder and one man, 26, on suspicion of assisting an offender, who was released on police bail.
Five of the men have been released under investigation with another two released with no further action. All are aged between 30 and 54.
