A SPORTS centre owned by Darlington manager Alun Armstrong, has announced its sudden closure at the end of the month.
The Alun Armstrong Sports Centre, in Shildon, made the announcement on social media that it will cease trading on June 30.
The statement reads: "It is with a heavy heart that due to unforeseen circumstances in relation to securing a new long term lease for the building, the AA Sports Centre will cease trading [on June 30] and the facility will close its doors.
"We are devastated by this news and would like to thank all customers, new and old, who have helped support our family ran business over the last few years."
Armstrong, a former Middlesbrough and Newcastle striker, was recently appointed Quakers boss.
The non-profit organisation houses a gym, two football academies, a soccer school and also hosts regular holiday camps for youngsters in the region.
Gym members who have paid for a year in advance are able to claim a refund for the months remaining.
