A MAN appeared in court yesterday in connection with a robbery.
The incident happened at a shop in a residential area of Peterlee, on Sunday, June 9, shortly after 8pm.
During the incident at the Simply Food and Drink Store, on York Road, workers at the shop were subjected to threats before the suspect stole a quantity of cash and alcohol.
Suspect Marc Wood, of Jude Place, Peterlee, went before Magistrates at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court .
The 34-year-old was charged at the court and remanded in custody.
He is set to go before Durham Crown Court on Wednesday, July 10.
Detective Sergeant Marco Fantin, from Peterlee CID said: “I would like to thank the local community for their help and assistance in relation to this matter.
"We would like to reassure members of the community that this was an isolated incident in which nobody was hurt.”
