THUNDERSTORMS and heavy rainfall is expected to hit the North-East this afternoon as Storm Miguel approaches.
According to the Met Office, rain was expected to hit most of the region today with one to four millemetres of rain per hour in some areas.
The weather is expected to worsen tonight into the evening, with two to four millemetres per hour expected across the region by 10pm tonight and into Satuday morning.
High risk of flooding is expected along the River Tees from Tees Bay to Darlington.
