A DEFENDANT’S admission over a watch theft is to be considered by the Crown.

Kielan Tallentire, 18, of Hawthorn Road, Middlestone Moor, Spennymoor, appeared at Durham Crown Court from the nearby city prison, accused of burglary and theft.

He denied a charge of house burglary, on April 26, when he was said to have stolen eight watches and an X-Box.

But he admitted theft, although of only one watch.

The Crown offered “no evidence” on the burglary charge and Judge Jonathan Carroll, therefore, passed a formal not guilty verdict.

Judge Carroll agreed to adjourn the hearing until June 21, to allow for preparation of a background Probation Service report on Tallentire, prior to sentence for theft.

But the delay will also allow the prosecution to consider Tallentire’s basis of plea.
