PROUD owners put their best pooches forward as all things canine were celebrated at a doggy fun day in Durham today.

The annual Dog Show and Fun Day staged by County Durham charity Stray Aid attracted an excellent turn-out to the grounds of East Durham College’s Houghall agricultural and horticultural campus, on the outskirts of the city.

All breeds and mixes, from cute puppies to head-strong adult dogs were in evidence, many who took part in 16 classes, culminating in the Best in Show award.

Apart from the dog display and classes, there were children’s activities, an array of stalls, plus food, drink and more.

Proceeds all went to Stray Aid, based in Cornforth Lane, Coxhoe, a charity which seeks to take care of abandoned and mistreated dogs and go on to find loving new owners.
