A NAKED man spotted at a bus stop was taken to hospital following concerns over his mental health.
The man was seen in a residential area of Newton Aycliffe on Sunday afternoon.
He was spotted standing at a bus stop on Burnhill Way, opposite a Premier convenience store.
Wearing what appeared to be only a pair of black shoes and short socks he checked the bus timetable, before turning away from the stop.
A short time later a police van appeared on the scene and took him to hospital before he was taken into custody.
A Police spokesperson said: “Police responded to a report of a man indecently exposing himself at a bus stop in Newton Aycliffe at the weekend.
“The police were called at 3.09pm on Sunday, June 2, to reports of a 33-year-old man at a bus stop, in Burn Lane.
“Due to concerns over the man’s mental health, he was taken to hospital, before being taken into custody.
“He was released under investigation in the early hours of this morning, Monday, June 3.”
