A MAN has been attacked after being approached by four men as he walked along Durham Road in Spennymoor.

The victim was walking home from the town centre at about 6.50pm on Saturday, May 25, when he was approached by four men in their late 20’s who asked him for money.

When he refused, the men struck the victim across his face. They then made off in the direction of Westmorland Close.

Police now are appealing for witnesses following the incident.

One suspect is described as being around 6ft, average build with short brown hair wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a black short sleeved t-shirt.

A further suspect is described as being around 6ft with short dark hair, average build wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a black short sleeved t-shirt.

A third suspect is described as being around 6ft with short brown hair, average build wearing a navy short sleeved t-shirt and black jogging bottoms.

The fourth suspect is described as being around 5ft 10, average build wearing a grey short sleeved t-shirt with a logo on the front and grey jogging bottoms.

DC Natalie Winter, from Bishop Auckland CID said: “The location of the incident is a popular walking route where members of the public can often be seen.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, please come forward.”
