POLICE have revealed a man was found dead on a busy Teesside road last night.
The emergency services were called to the A174 Parkway, Middlesbrough, just before 9.30pm, where the body of a man was discovered on the carriageway.
Two vehicles had also been in collision with each other at the scene.
The elderly male driver and female passenger travelling in a silver Mazda were taken to James Cook University Hospital. The 77-year-old male suffered broken bones and the 82-year-old woman suffered serious leg injuries. Both remain in hospital in a stable condition.
The A174 was closed in both directions from the Greystones roundabout to the Coulby Newham exit, to allow emergency services access to the scene.
The westbound carriageway reopened before 11.30pm and both vehicles were recovered.
Investigations into the incident are on-going.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "The man’s family has been informed and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time."
