A JUDGE has ordered a psychiatric assessment of a teenager who repeatedly breached a court order forbidding him from contacting or approaching his mother.

Kieran Manning was said to have left his mother, “feeling like a prisoner in her own home”, by calling at her address in Bishop Auckland, four times in April, contravening a restraining order.

Durham Crown Court heard the order was imposed last July, due to harassment she suffered from him, often seeking money for drugs.

Manning, 19, of Stratton Street, Spennymoor, who admits harassment, criminal damage and four breaches of the restraining order, is said to have mental health issues.

Judge Jonathan Carroll ordered preparation of psychiatric reports on Manning, who will remain in custody pending sentence on July 8.
