A POWER cut which affected more than 1,400 properties in County Durham this morning has been fixed.

The loss of electricity supply to homes and businesses in the Cornforth, Tursdale and Coxhoe area was reported at around 9.50am.
AN NEDL spokesperson said 1,420 properties are affected.

A message to Tursdale residents said: "We're aware of an unplanned power cut in DH65PA. Our team are working hard to restore your power as quickly as possible.

"The power cut affecting your property has been caused by an unexpected problem with the cables or equipment that serve your area."

In a message to Coxhoe residents, NEDL said the power had been switched off for safety purposes whilst engineers worth on cable and equipment serving the area.

The supply was reconnected at around 11.30am.
