THE FINISHING touches are being made to a luxury cinema ahead of its opening in two weeks.

The six-screen Odeon Luxe in Durham is scheduled to open to the public on Wednesday, June 5.

All six screens feature fully reclining seats, while the iSense screen – the first in the North-East – promises a “truly immersive experience” courtesy of its 4K projection and Dolby ATMOS 3D sound.

General manager Miranda Harding said: “This is part of Odeon’s strategy and this is one of a few Odeon Luxes that have been built and opened in the last couple of years.

“Odeon wants to provide the best of the best for film fans and that’s what Odeon Luxe represents.

“The second you walk through that door you get that experience.

“Durham is a beautiful city and Odeon is going to be a big part in bringing people to the city.”

She added: “I can’t wait to get into the iSense screen to watch a film because I’m a massive film geek.”

The cinema will employ 38 people, who are currently undergoing training at cinemas at the Metrocentre, in Gateshead, and Silverlink, in North Shields.

The iSense has 94 seats, while the other five have about 50 each.
