THE stages for Radio 1's Big Weekend is starting to take shape as excitement builds for three days of musical entertainment.

More than 64,000 people are expected to flock to Middlesbrough's Stewart Park to listen to performances from an eclectic mix of musicians from up-and-coming local rapper Dylan Cartlidge to Miley Cyrus and from Stormzy to Little Mix.

Dylan Cartlidge, one of the stars of the Mighty Redcar, will be appearing on the BBC Music Introducing Stage on Saturday while another local star, Saltburn-born James Arthur, will be on stage on the same day on the Main Stage.

Stewart Park will be closed to non-ticket holders from 6pm on Friday until 7.30am on Monday, May 27.

For music fans there are dedicated shuttle bus services to and from the centre of Middlesbrough and other nearby towns.

Tickets for the shuttle bus service, which is running both to and from Middlesbrough Town Hall to Stewart Park, must be bought before the deadline of 5pm tomorrow.
