The foal was rescued by the fire service
A FOAL has been rescued after it became trapped in a ditch.
Rescue crews were sent to help the stricken young horse after it got into difficulty in the Broompark area, near Durham.
It is understood the alarm was raised on Saturday morning.
A spokesman for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said: “Both the foal and it's mother, who was stood nearby, were very distressed but thankfully our crews got it to safety for a happy ending.”
