POLICE are continuing their investigations after an pupil took a craft knife into a primary school.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “We were made aware that a pupil had taken a construction knife into Wolsingham Primary School.
“There is an on-going investigation into the details surrounding this matter. We are working with the student's family and the school to establish the full facts of this isolated incident.”
Sarah Kitching, headteacher at Wolsingham Primary School, said: “We were made aware of a report of a child being shown a knife in school. As a result of this a thorough risk assessment was carried out following which steps have been taken to ensure the safety of everyone in school.
"We have liaised with Durham Constabulary, Durham County Council and the family of the pupil and would like to reassure parents that this was an isolated report and that robust protocols are in place to keep children safe.”
The incident happened on April 25.
