THE stable staff at Rebecca Menzies’ County Durham racing yard held a charity day with a difference as they donned their onesies to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
One of the yard’s riders, Leah Cooper, is competing in a charity race at York Racecourse next month to raise funds for Macmillan.
And to show their support, Ms Cooper’s work mates at Ms Menzies’ yard at Howe Hills, close to Sedgefield, staged a ‘onesie day’ that raised more than £1,000.
Ms Menzies joined the rest of her stable staff in wearing a onesie to work, and was joined by jockeys Nathan Moscrop, Conor O’Farrell, Cam Hardie and Kane Yeoman.
Ms Menzies said: "The girls in the yard had the brilliant idea of wearing onesies for the morning to raise money but didn't think I would agree.
"Everyone joined in, including owners and the four jockeys who came in to ride work.
"Even jockeys' valet Steve Charlton came in, to make it a really good day and we have raised over £1,000 having set out to raise £200 for Leah, who has already collected £3,000 for her charity ride at York. We will be doing something similar next year - equally as daft."
