A WOMAN has been left traumatised after being knocked unconscious by a man outside a Middlesbrough pizza shop.

The 20-year-old was inside Sopranos, on Wilson Street, Middlesbrough, with her friend at around 3am when two unknown men approached them, stole their food and verbally abused them.

One of the men then stole the woman’s bag and when she challenged the other man outside, he punched her to the ground where she lost consciousness.

She sustained serious facial injuries and bruising and grazing to her body.

Her bag was retrieved minus a small amount of money and her mobile phone was damaged after one of the men threw it to the ground.

The woman was left extremely shaken and is currently unable to work due to her injuries for which she received hospital treatment.

Cleveland Police said the two men are described as Asian, in their early 20s and of a slim build.

One of them was believed to be wearing a white t-shirt. Both possibly ran off in the direction of Linthorpe Road.

The incident happened on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6.

A police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone else with information to contact detective sergeant Gary Walters of Middlesbrough CID.

"Please use the non-emergency number 101 and quote Event 75609."
