DURHAM University has been ranked sixth in the 2020 Complete University Guide, maintaining its position from last year and achieving its 12th consecutive year in the top 10 of this prestigious guide.

The 2020 edition of the Complete University Guide recognises Durham’s challenging, creative and cutting-edge teaching, with over 90 per cent of the University’s subjects ranked in the UK top ten and two subjects ranked number one – English and Music.

The results further cement Durham’s global reputation as a centre of teaching and research excellence and recognise how the University enables its students to go out in the world and do outstanding things.

The Complete University Guide uses a range of measures to establish overall rankings including student satisfaction, graduate prospects, and investment in academic and student facilities.

Professor Stuart Corbridge, vice-chancellor, said: “Durham is a university like no other and maintaining our ranking as one of the UK’s top universities in the Complete University Guide is something to be truly proud of.

“To achieve this, and our other league table successes, during what continues to be a challenging time for UK Higher Education Sector, is extremely rewarding.

“We strive to build on our success and are making a significant investment in staff, our student facilities and University buildings as part of our commitment to being globally outstanding.”

The Complete University Guide overall league table is compiled using ten measures including student satisfaction and graduate prospects and completion.

The results follow Durham’s recent success in the QS World University Subject Rankings 2020, in which the University recorded 18 subjects in the world top 100, including three that maintain their places in the World top ten.
