A CHAMPION for victims of domestic abuse is seeking to bring her cause all the way to a glittering awards ceremony.

‘Most Wanted Salon of the Year’ finalist Kimberley Roberts of Kinmel Bay will head to the Welsh Hair and Beauty Awards at Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday, May 19 with an agenda, where she will be hoping to introduce other stylists from across Wales to her Cutting Out Domestic Abuse campaign.

The founder of Kimberley Roberts Hair and Beauty Lounge - formerly known as The Colour Lounge -Mrs Roberts is currently working with salons in Liverpool and Salford to encourage stylists to receive training to help support women in abusive relationships.

Mrs Roberts, originally of Salford, said: “I am very proud of all I’ve achieved and here’s hoping we win our category this year.

“I feel we have had an outstanding amount of votes due to all our hard work and commitment as well as the charity work myself and my salon do for our locals. our salon is in the heart of Kinmel Bay and we touch a lot of people in making them beautiful or just being I support a shoulder or an ear just to listen.

“We are super excited and its been an amazing platform for us, as I have just became a champion for the White Ribbon charity to help cut out domestic abuse, which has supported us in bringing awareness into salons.

“So many women come into salons, including women living with abuse, and I think it’s so important for beauty professionals to be able to recognise some of the signs and know how to talk to these women so they can put them in touch with the right contact if they need.”

Mrs Roberts - who founded her business 20 years ago at 16 - is liaising with North Wales Police to deliver a three hour course to train hair and beauty professionals of different types of abuse, expected to take place in the summer.
