A 46-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist is receiving hospital treatment for “multiple fractures and serious lacerations” after being involved in a crash on the A19.

The biker was taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough following the incident on Saturday morning when his green and black Suzuki motorcycle was hit on the A19 northbound at the A174 slip.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service and numerous emergency services vehicles were all called to the scene shortly after 10.15am and the A19 north and southbound carriageways were both closed for several hours.

It is understood the biker was transported to hospital via road ambulance and the A19 southbound carriageway re-opened at around 2pm followed by the northbound lanes an hour later.

Cleveland Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information on the incident.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to this collision which happened at 10.15am on Saturday (April 27) and involved a green and black Suzuki motorcycle.

“We would like to thank motorists who were affected for their understanding and co-operation at that time.
