FIVE people were hurt when a car crashed into a wall after the driver lost control on a country road.

Durham police is appealing for information following the collision at Eggleston, in Teesdale, County Durham.

The incident occurred on the B6278 near to High Shipley just after 8.50am this morning.

It is believed the driver of the Hyundai Santa Fe lost control of the vehicle and hit a wall.

Officers together with colleagues from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service and the North East Ambulance Service attended the scene.

All five occupants of the car were taken to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, with injuries not described as life-threatening.

Sergeant Catherine Iley, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, lead up to it or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident.”
