THE choir of St Nicholas Church in Guisborough have been invited to sing at the Royal Albert Hall this weekend in an event called Prom Praise.

Prom Praise is a blend of sacred and concert music, a unique and joyful fusion of performance with worship, combining the spirit of Songs of Praise with the enthusiasm of the world-famous Last Night of the Proms.

Famous worldwide for a unique voice in music, the All Souls Orchestra from Langham Place in London bring their flagship event – Prom Praise – for the annual visit to the Royal Albert Hall with a special partnership of classical and contemporary musicians.

There will be a gathering of artists joining from the classical world and contemporary worship, along with regular full-voiced Massed Choir and All Souls Orchestra and is a celebration of worship and ministry.

St Nicholas Church Musical Director Chris Nixon said: “There are 22 of us who are going to sing amongst a choir of nearly a thousand people to an audience of over 4,000.

"We arrive on Friday night, have dinner booked, and on Saturday we’re going to the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, an afternoon rehearsal at the Royal Albert Hall and the evening concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

"On Sunday morning we’ll being going to church for morning service. I hope this is going to be a regular event, something we’re involved in. It’s a big thing and it’s fabulous.

“Interestingly, all the composers of the songs are going to be there and earlier this year Stuart Townend was at our church, so we sang with him and we’ve got Graham Kendrick coming in on May 4 and this is part of our thing each year, having some of that ilk, you know, top Christian song writers to come to our church."

All Souls Music is the music ministry of All Souls Church, Langham Place in London, led by Director of Music, Noel Tredinnick, whose work over nearly 50 years has brought about internationally recognised innovations in music ministry.
