A MAN has been charged after an MP's office windows were smashed.

Two windows at Helen Goodman's constituency office on Cockton Hill Road, Bishop Auckland, were broken after being hit by an object on the evening of Saturday, April 6.

A spokesperson for Durham police has today confirmed that a 44-year-old local man is due in court next month to face two charges in connection with the incident.

Colin Dodds, of Douthwaite Road, Bishop Auckland, has been charged with criminal damage and a public order offence.

He will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday, May 2.

A second man, aged 50, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and public order.

He has been released under investigation.

Following the attack on her office, Bishop Auckland MP Ms Goodman condemned the damage and security was stepped up at the office.
