A BUZZARD has been rescued by firefighters after it was caught in netting.
The bird was stuck in a tree near to Headlam Hall, near Gainford, County Durham.
A spokeswoman for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said that after a member of the public spotted the bird in trouble, the RSPCA was alerted and they called the fire brigade for assistance.
A crew from Bishop Auckland fire station helped to rescue the bird, which was checked over by the RSPCA inspector and released back into the wild.
