THE ever-popular Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen will be swapping the countryside for a town centre as she signs copies of her new book.

Fans of the best-selling author and mother-of-nine will be able to meet the farmer in Darlington as she launches Adventures of the Yorkshire Shepherdess in June.

Mrs Owen has already enjoyed success with her writing, including The Yorkshire Shepherdess and A Year in the Life of the Yorkshire Shepherdess, which accounts traditional hill farm life at Ravenseat – a remote 2,000-acre hill farm in North Yorkshire.

The latest edition in the series will see Mrs Owen signing books between noon and 1pm on June 14, in Darlington’s Waterstones store in the Cornmill Shopping Centre.

Mrs Owen says she was inspired to up sticks from suburban Huddersfield and head for the hills after reading the works of James Herriot. She also credits Hill Shepherd by John and Eliza Forder as the book that sparked her interest in shepherding and sheep.
