EX-ENGLAND Rugby Captain, keen cyclist and Vélo Series Ambassador, Martin Johnson, CBE, is encouraging people to join him when he takes part in the 100-mile cycle route at Vélo North, in September.

“Come and join me, and up to 15,000 other cyclists, for the North’s only closed-road cycling event - but you’ll have to be quick!” says Martin. “Tickets for the Vélo North event are already selling fast for what promises to be a memorable event on Sunday, September 1.

“I’m looking forward to seeing lots of families, friends and solo-cyclists coming along to take part in what will be a challenging journey through the beauty of the North Pennines. The route will start and finish at Durham Cathedral, in the heart of Durham city centre, and will wend its way through some spectacular scenery.

“The 100-mile route will take in some of the UK’s most beautiful countryside – rolling hills and picturesque towns and villages. It will be a joy to ride the route.

“If you don’t think you’re up to the 100-mile ride, you won’t have to miss out. Vélo North is also staging a more manageable 50-mile, closed-road route, offering riders the opportunity to experience the thrill of riding on closed roads.

“Whether you’re an experienced cyclist, or a new enthusiast to the sport, this is an event not to be missed. I’ll be waiting at the starting line, so, if you’re planning on joining me, you need to get on your bike and buy your tickets now.

“Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Go to the event’s website and book your place before it’s too late.

“If you miss out and don’t manage to secure your place, there will still be a chance to be part of the fun - and support a worthy cause - by entering through Vélo North’s Lead Charity Partner – Prostate Cancer UK.

“Make sure your boss knows that companies can enjoy a VIP participation experience through the Vélo North Business 100 option. Entry is a great opportunity for team-building, as well as helping to encourage health and well-being among employees, clients and prospects.

“However you take part in Vélo North, whether as a solo rider, with your employer, or cycling for charity, I’m looking forward to taking to the roads with you on 1st September and sharing this truly fantastic experience together.”
